Is this supported and just not listed in the specs yet?

SBC is simply not adequate to stream high quality music, movie audio, or whatever audio to bluetooth headphones.ĪptX is better than SBC, but still not great, so really what is required is AptX HD and this tablet is not listed as supporting it on their site ( ), nor is AptX HD listed in any of the specifications anywhere by Samsung, hence my question. Any bluetooth audio device that supports A2DP has SBC, and even at the max theoretical throughput (345 kilobits ps) it is about 1/3 of CD quality, with a more realistic, though still optimistic, 256 kbps throughput, decidely lower quality than that. Please point me to documentation that shows the high quality A2DP audio codecs supported for the S7+ specifically, or at least indicate that there are plans to add them in a firmware update soon so i can buy this after they are added.Īs mentioned above.SBC is a very low quality default option that is required for compliance with an A2DP bluetooth profile. It isn't like Samsung isn't aware of this, plenty of their high end devices support up to 5 codecs:

I'm really hoping that this wasn't a HUGE miss for a tablet that is supposed to be a high end media device and thatbetter codecs like LDAP/Aptx HD and it just isn't documented anywhere yet.Īny decent mobile phone/device (most recent Samsungs, actually, see below) support some form of better audio codec for bluetooth, especially when there is no aux/audio out option, otherwise the only way to get high quality audio to headphones is to use a USB-C cable, but then of course you can't have your device on a charger. If not, the S7/7+ just went from a definite immediate purchase to a NOT purchase, as there would be no way to get anything but low quality audio to my bluetooth headphones, or any other bluetooth device/accessory. I'm finding this hard to believe, but I can't get a straight answer on whether there are any bluetooth audio codecs supported for this new tablet besides the poor quality SBC one that is required by A2DP.
